Why it exists

I make websites, tools, games and other things, often with the help of generative tools. I use Live to record what I tried, what worked, and what I changed my mind about.

There is plenty of commentary about AI. I want to keep a practical record of what using it to make things is actually like.

What appears here

Updates on things I’m making, useful discoveries, things I decide not to pursue, and questions I haven’t answered yet. These are notes from the work rather than polished essays.

Who it is for

Anyone interested in making things, or finding their way back to their own creativity. I hope something here is useful, encouraging or simply interesting.

Writing

While I use generative tools to test my ideas and build things quickly, I’m less of a fan of using them to articulate my thoughts and experiences. I try and keep the words you read here my own. I’ve written more about my thinking in On Writing and AI.

When I include words produced by a model, they are labelled “From the model” and set apart visually. Everything else is my own writing, apart from corrections to spelling and grammar.
